THE ANNUAL DAY (1-3) - KABULIWALA FROM PAGE TO STAGE

Commemorating a day to Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore and celebrating the 155th year of the nobel laureate’s birth anniversary, gleeful students of classes I-III of Maharaja Agrasen Model School, CD Block Pitampura, celebrated their Annual Day Kabuliwala- Tagore’s Tale from Page to Stage on February 6, 2016 with exuberance and elation.

Tinged with an undercurrent of literary mirth lending an ambrosial delight to the starved mind the tiny tots took a dip into the world of books and reinvented the marvels of imagination with the eminent works of Tagore.

The gala event commenced with the ceremonial lamp lighting by the laudable members of the School Management along with the Principal and Vice Principal. The School Manager Shri M L Goel ji accorded a warm welcome to the august gathering. The Principal Mrs Pratibha Kohli in her speech appreciated the mass participation of the 480 cygnets bringing into limelight the marvels of books which have the power to transform and ignite minds.

The celebrations began with vibrant cherubs of class I swaying through the stream of mystic joy as the chorus of silken voices echoed the onset of a divine environment through the rendition of Tagore’s famous song ‘Anand Dhara’. The glimmers of innocence wrapped in waves of childlike joy and rhapsody came to the fore with our little friends swirling and twirling to the beats of Kuch Rang Bhare Phool. The highlight of the day Kabuliwala- Tagore’s Tale from Page to Stage was put up through the inventive concept of a story within a story with Ishan of class I, who, through his birthday celebrations and visualisation of the book parade- Kitaabein Karti Hain Baatein understood the importance of books and enlivened the characters of Tagore’s epic who left an indelible impression on him forever.

The play highlighted the purest form of friendship between the little girl Mini and the dry-fruit seller Kabuliwala, which transcends barriers of religion, race and language. Preaching the philanthropic aspect of humanity, the play created an aura of cultural haven.

The grand finale was the binding factor of the literary trail wherein all the dancers and performers of the day conjugated to spread the message Keep Reading, Love Reading.

The event culminated with the Vote of Thanks proposed by the Vice Principal Mrs. Simmi Bhatia who complimented the students for their sheer hard-work, braving the cold and giving prodigious performances which led to the successful completion of a resplendent day.
