68th REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATION

January 25,2017
Maharaja Agrasen Model School, Pitampura celebrated the Republic day with patriotic fervour. The program commenced with the hoisting of the flag by the Members of the Management. The school choir sang the national anthem enthusing the hearts with sentiments for the motherland. Followed by this was the staging of the street play by Pre- Primary children on Clean Campus,Green Campus sensitizing the audience for shouldering their responsibility towards keeping their surroundings clean and green to nurture the environment.Children showcased their talent in Dumbbell drill and offered a melodious musical tribute to their native land with the presentation of the song Vande Matram.patriotic group songs sung by students infused patriotism and enthralled everybody. In an inspiring speech the Secretary Sh.S.L Gupta ji urged children to imbibe values like honesty and truthfulness to make this world a better place to live in. The celebration culminated with a vote of thanks by the Principal Ms. Pratibha Kohli .She concluded on an optimistic note by motivating students to be the stake holders to guard their constitution and contribute their bit to glorify their school,society and nation.

NFLAT 2016 Level -1

NCFE [National Centre for Financial Education] conducts National Financial Literacy Assessment Test (NFLAT) to further the cause of financial literacy in India. By conducting this national level test, NCFE motivates school students (of classes VI to X) to learn the concepts of finance and also measure their financial awareness so that they inculcate an important life skill at an early age leading to sound financial decisions later. The online test comprised of 60 questions for Classes VI to VIII (NFLAT Jr.) and 75 questions for Classes IX and X (NFLAT) which were to be answered in 60 minutes. It was conducted on December 9, 2016 in offline mode in the School (11:30am to 12:30pm) . 721 students from Classes VI to X appeared for the test. Our school has been selected amongst top ten schools in northern division and has qualified for second round to be held in April 2017.

To rejoice the bountiful earth and highlight the importance of protecting Mother Nature vivacious students of Maharaja Agrasen Model School, CD Block, Pitampura celebrated the Annual Day Convivial- A Clarion Call for Cleanliness for classes I-III on February 4, 2017.

The extravaganza commenced with the ceremonial lamp lighting by the honorable Chief Guest Madam Shashi Bala Saini, Deputy Director of Education, Zone XI, District North-West B, Govt. of NCT of Delhi, the laudable members of the School Management along with the Principal and Vice Principal. The School Manager Shri Harish Chandra accorded a warm welcome to the august gathering. The occasion was also graced by Sh.A.P.Bansal, Vice President, Sh.S.L.Gupta, Secretary, Shri Mahabir Garg, Treasurer and Shri R K Bansal, Member of the School Management. The Chief Guest in her speech appreciated the efforts of the tiny buds and urged one and all to be active supporters of the Swachh Bharat campaign. The Principal Mrs. Pratibha Kohli in her speech appreciated the sheer hard work put in by the 490 tiny tots and encouraged one and all to follow the Swachh Bharat Mission launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Dashing into the merriment of heralding a greener future, students of class I dressed up as exotic blooms, beautiful butterflies and chirping birds festering alongside hills and mountains spawned the welcome song Abhinandan. Deriving the maximum benefits of the green canopy of the school, the fitness forerunners of class III waded in with orchestrated movements reiterating the school mission statement Green Campus Clean Campus in Versatile  Fitness Freaks. The robust Mamsians geared with colourful balls, ribbons and pom-poms revelled in the greenscapes of the school campus and presented a refreshing sight along with the fleet of fighters who presented a panorama of diligence, agility and poise in the taekwondo drill. Teasing lyrics and silken voices of the singers accompanied with rhythmic claps and an infectious flow were a feast for music lovers who swayed as the troupe of qawwals hurled a war of words in Safai ke Sikandar banaam  Kachre ke Kalandar- a qawwali. The cleanliness crusaders endowed with enviable stamina and strength rekindled the emotive concerns and instigated the citizens to save all bountiful Mother Nature and have Swachh Bharat Sundar Bharat in Crusaders of Clean India- a clarion call by Mamsians.  Swachhta ka shankhnaad saw Devansh Malik of class I exhorting people to devote themselves towards the cause of cleanliness and lend their support to the initiative through a poem. The Grand Finale binded the joyful spree and brought to the fore a panoramic view of the dancers and performers together.
The event culminated with the Vote of Thanks proposed by the Vice Principal Mrs. Simmi Bhatia who complimented the students for their dedication, braving the winter chill and giving prodigious performances which led to the successful completion of the cleanliness crusade.

Atal Tinkering Labs Achievement

ATL

Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) has been setup by NITI Aayog which will monitor, coordinate and ensure implementation of the globally accepted Sustainable Development Goals. It aims to establish ATAL TINKERING LABS (ATL) in schools all over India. As per the selection criteria, our school qualified four rigorous and challenging rounds (application, screening and evaluation) and participated in the final round of evaluation on Saturday, 05-11-2016 at FICCI, Federation House, Tansen Marg, New Delhi. A team of 3 students (Nishtha Garg, Shubham Kansal and Ritik Jain) of class XI along with the Principal Mrs. Pratibha Kohli and Mr. R. Bhardwaj (P.G.T Physics) presented innovative projects / models for problems faced by community. Also, questions were put up about vision of Science activities in the school. Our school is among the 29 schools in Delhi and 257 schools all over India to be selected for the prestigious ATL in the school. Our school will get a chance to work with innovative tools and equipment to understand the concepts of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) in a better manner.

NATIONAL CONFERENCE - ICT IN EDUCATION AT MYSORE

Regional Institute of Education, Mysore had organized a National Conference on Information and Communication Technology in Education (ICT) from 01 to 03 February 2017. The event had various segments like paper presentation, poster presentations, demonstrations, exhibitions and key note addresses. I was invited to present the poster presentation for all the three days at RIE Mysore under Invited Presenters category to share my work knowledge.
The specific objectives of the conference were to:
1. Showcase the innovative best practices of ICT integration in education.
2. Explore various current and emerging ICT tools and services and discuss the implications of these on educational practices.
3. Discuss the means of enhancing efficiency of assessment and administrative practices through technology integration.
4. Explore the implications of ICT trends on instructional designing and pedagogical practices.
5. Explore various professional development alternatives in enhancing ICT integration competencies.
6. Discuss the challenges in integrating ICT in education and measures to overcome these challenges.
7. Review the research on ICT integration in education.
The sub themes for the conference were:
1. ICT in Education: Advances in Tools and Technologies
2. OER-Policies and Practices
3. Professional Development and Life-Long Learning using ICT
4. Technology Plans and Leadership
5. ICT in Education: Trends and Innovative Practices

It was a great learning experience for ICT integration in our teaching-learning pedagogy. In the conference there were around 60 paper presenters and 12 poster presentations, showcasing excellent use of ICT in education. Few of the topics of Poster Presentations are using Hot Potatoes, Audacity, and FOSS tools to enhance teaching and learning. I would like to conduct knowledge transfer sessions with different groups of teachers accordingly to apply ICT tools in their teaching.
Adding to the presentation, my video for the lecture about Cyber Security was also recorded which may be added to e-resources later on. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the school management and the Principal Madam for allowing me to attend this conference and gain the knowledge.

NATIONAL ICT CONFERENCE - JURY SELECTION COMMITTEE MEETING FOR ICT AWARDS

A meeting for jury selection was held at Regional Institute for Education (RIE) Bhopal from December 19 to December 23,2016. 106 teachers were selected from all Kendrya Vidyalayas ,Government schools ,Sainik schools, State schools and CBSE schools from the country. It is a matter of great proud that Ms. Chandni Agarwal was one the  two teachers selected from Delhi. She presented her innovative idea and work to safeguard our community and digital natives.  The jury comprised of Prof. Nagarjuna G.(Associate Professor,TIFR,Mumbai), DR. M.U. Paily(Professor RIE ,Mysore),       Mr. Rajan R. Rane (DDG andState Information Officer,MEIY,Bhopal), Prof. Rajaram S. Sharma (Joint Director,CIET-NCERT), Prof. Hrushikesh Senapaty(Director, NCERT,New Delhi). The final result would be declared in the month of August.

Inter District Band Competition

Inter District Band Competition was held at chattersal stadium model town Delhi on December 6,2016. The MAMSIAN secured First place in the competition. The MAMSIAN were awarded a cash prize Rs. 10000 and a certificate of merit.

Maharaja Agrasen Model School, Pitampura celebrated its Annual Day with great exuberance on Nov 7,2016. The The Chief guest for the evening was Dr. Sanjeev Nayyar, Mayor, North Delhi Municipal Corporation. The ceremonial lamp was lighted by the Members of the Management, the Principal, the vice principal and other eminent guests.

The program titled `Parishkriti’ commenced with a scintillating invocation dance performance `Ganesh Stuti’. The school Principal Ms. Pratibha Kohli highlighted the school’s achievements in her annual report and the saga of impetus in co- curricular activities was presented by the Vice Principal Ms. Simmi Bhatia. The presentation of the play ‘The Seven Ages’ by William Shakespeare transported the audience to the Shakespearean era and enabled them to reflect upon and the real pursuit of human life. The young Mamsians brought to life the nuances of variety of emotions which was applauded by one and all. A musical ballad ‘’Delhi Ki Kahani, Mams Ki zubani ‘’ depicting the past and present of our city Delhi highlighted the evergreen and spontaneous growth of Delhi. The enthralling ballad mesmerised the audience. Magnificent costumes and sets added to the glorious performance of the students. They displayed a wide array of mesmerising and reverberant events.

The Chief Guest Dr. Sanjeev Nayyar addressed the gathering and complemented the students for their excellent performance. The meritorious students were awarded prizes for excellence in academics and in co-curricular activities.

Maharaja Agrasen, Pitampura Hosts Action Committee General Body Meeting


The General Body Meeting of Unaided Recognised Private Schools of Action Committee was held on September 24,2016 at Maharaja Agrasen Model School, Pitampura .
The objective of the programme was to discuss the better strategies of educators and policy makers towards the evolution of education. The programme commenced with the lightning of the Ceremonial Lamp by Mr. S.K. Bhattacharya , President of Action Committee and other dignitaries.
Thereafter the august gathering was extended a warm welcome by Ms. Pratibha Kohli , Principal Maharaja Agrasen Model School. She was overwhelmed to see an admirable response of the guests.
Eminent educationists were also revered by an enchanting welcome song presented by the school students which was followed by action committee’s various reports , updates and paper presentations on legal matters. Swami Shantatmananda ji , the special guest of the evening was presented a planter by Mr. S.K. Bhattacharya ,President Action Committee. The next event of the meeting was the recognition of the awardees at National , CBSE and Delhi state levels. They were applauded for their appreciable contribution to innovate education. Swami ji’s deliberation on value education ignited the minds of audience and empowered them. An interaction with Swami ji inspired everyone to adhere to spirituality and values. The members of the Agrasen Educational Society presented a shawl to Swami ji as a token reverence. The meeting was concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Suraj Prakash , former president of NPSC and an eminent educationalist. Expressing his exuberance he thanked and applauded the initiative taken up by the Management and the Principal Ms. Pratibha Kohli. The meeting ended with the delicious refreshment for the guests and left an indelible impression on everyone.

On September 12, 2016 Kritika Kumari of class X-D was awarded scholarship of Rs 1000/- by Ramakrishna Mission. She was selected on the basis of her academic performance of last three years.

An inspiring and innovative exhibition was organized by Directorate of Education, Govt. of India, and NCT Delhi. All the above mentioned students won at Zonal Level and have qualified for Central level Science Exhibition, 2015-16 (SLSMEE) under their respective sub-themes.

A team of two students showcased its exhibits on the respective topics .The models were accompanied with charts as a support. The exhibition was succeeded by ceremony enlisting the selected students for Central Level. The dignitaries as well the school principal enlightened the participants with their kind words and awarded winners with certificates and trophies and medals. Our students also participated in various other events like Poster Making, Slogan Writing and Scientoon.

The Exhibition was really informative and inspiring. All the students brought something new to the day, new data and different facts making the entire session much of a learning experience than of a competing one.

MAHARAJA AGRASEN MODEL SCHOOL CELEBRATES INDEPENDENCE DAY

Saluting the spirit of India and reigniting the patriotic fervour the 70th Independence day was celebrated with zest and pride at Maharaja Agrasen Model School, CD Block, Pitampura. A cultural program was organised to mark the celebration which commenced with floral salutation to Goddess Saraswati. The programm evoked the feelings of love and loyalty for the nation as the chief guest Madam Bandana Kumari, MLA Shalimar Bagh Constituency and members of the school management hoisted the flag to commemorate the sovereignty of our nation and the national anthem was sung in unison. An assembly of events took place ranging from patriotic songs to dances. The school Manager Shri Harish Chandra ji incorporated the feelings of regard and reverence towards our nation through an inspiring speech.

The patriotic pilgrimage began with the school choir singing the motivational and inspirational school song. Mesmerising performances by the tiny tots and an action song Desh Mera Rangeela reignited nationalism among the audience and addressed them to be part of the Make In India programme. A street play CLEAN CAMPUS GREEN CAMPUS was showcased on the auspicious day sensitizing everyone towards cleanliness by the stakeholders of their native land. The meritorious students of the school were appreciated and awarded for bringing laurels to the school . The chief guest in her speech reminded the students of their duty and responsibility towards the country which got independence from the imperialistic rule at the cost of numerous martyred souls and with the dedication and perseverance of Indian freedom fighters. The programme culminated with a motivational speech on cleanliness by the Principal emphasising on the need of keeping our surroundings clean.The commemorative programme created an aura for everyone to rejoice the freedom, peace, unity and diversity.

Maharaja Agrasen Model School Pitampura CD Block, Pitampura celebrated Van mahotsava from August 1 to August 20 with an objective of sensitizing children and masses towards the environmental issues reminding to shoulder their responsibility towards it which has become the major cause of concern globally.
Various thought provoking inter-school activities scheduled for the event were Poster Making (social science), MathTasy Tales (mathematics), Nobel Laureates (science) code for nation…: Open Programming (Computer) Bulletin Scolaire, (commerce), Role play (Hindi Art Form of Any State of India). A large number of participants from different schools participated enthusiastically and were applauded for their rhapsodic participation.
Various other intra school activities like Slogan writing on Green revolution in India , Self-composed Poems on Clean Campus Green Campus ,Make a Bin, Drawing & Colouring , cleans classrooms marked the celebration well.
Sapling plantation drive was taken up as an admirable effort by the school management. Savvy environmentalists from the school also took out an awareness march that was flagged off by the principal Ms. Pratibha Kohli. Participants raised slogans and urged citizens to contribute their bit to save the mother Earth.
The gala event culminated with the prize distribution ceremony in which Maharaja Agrasen Model school won the overall trophy which was then passed on to ShriRam Shiksha Mandir for being the First Runner up. Thus the event inspired everyone to be an essential part of sustainable development by saving the environment.

Inter House Folk Dance Competition

The vibrancy and the beats of folk music reverberated the atmosphere as enthusiastic Mamsians danced their hearts away in the Inter House Folk Dance Competition on August 9, 2016. A wide range of folk dances were presented by the participants. The colourful and energetic performances enchanted the audience, compelling them to cheer and applaud from their seats.

Kabir house emerged the winner along with Gautam House on the second position and Vivekanand House bagging the third position. The beauty and energy of the performances were commendable and the loud cheering was suggestive of the great entertainment that the spectators had.

ZONAL ENGLISH DEBATE COMPETITION

Maharaja Agrasen Model School conducted ZONAL ENGLISH DEBATE COMPETITION organized by Directorate of Education Govt. of N.C.T. of Delhi on August 8, 2016 in the school premises. The competition saw a zealous participation when 131 students from zone XI competed hard to prove their debating skills. The competition was conducted at four levels viz-Junior Boys, Senior Boys, Junior Girls and Senior Girls category. The topic for junior category was “Peer Pressure Helpful/Harmful for Making the Right Choice in Life” while senior students expressed their views on the thought – “In Comparison To Bookish Knowledge Experience Matters More in Life”.

The tough competition and well prepared students gave tough time not only to their fellow competitors but even judge found it a close call.

UNNAT - Programming Competition Pankaj and Shivam Singhal of class XII B bagged third position at UNNAT- Coding competition (C++ language) at Indraprastha World School, Paschim Vihar on July 23,2016.


To inculcate the leadership qualities in students and to give them a feel of functioning of the administrative body, a student council was formed at Maharaja Agrasen Model School and the investiture ceremony was held on July 23,2016 .Each member of the student council was honored with a tie followed by the oath ceremony.
The Ceremony began with the prayer to mark the solemnity of the occasion.The newly appointed council comprised of students of classes XI,VIII and V.Aditya Dadheech of class XI as the head boy and Dipty Nagpal of XI as the head girl , Sahil Sethi of XI as the vice head boy and Ritika Garg of XI as vice head girl assured for the smooth functioning of council.
Speaking on the occasion, the Principal urged the young leaders to uphold the values of school and discharge their duties honestly. The outgoing head boy Akshit and head girl Palak bid a thoughtful adieu to the School in their respective speeches. This was followed by the entire council taking oath to discharge their duties with sincerity and dedication. The event reinstated the faith in caliber and leadership of the future generations. Yasha Satija of class XI made Maharaja Agrasen Model School, CD-Block, Pitampura, Delhi 110034 proud by winning a Bronze Medal in the 1st International Beach Kurash Championship at Chinese Taipei from July 20,2016 to July 24,2016. She had earlier won a Gold Medal in Delhi State Judo Championship held at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Delhi from February 8,2016 to February 11,2016.

Yasha has been studying in Maharaja Agrasen Model School since LKG. Her success in different competitions has been praiseworthy. The budding sports woman had also won a Gold Medal in CBSE National held at Amritsar from November 19 to November 22, 2015. Her rigorous practice sessions, strong will power and determination made her notch a Bronze Medal in Delhi Olympics organised by Delhi Judo Council held at Talkatora stadium from October 22 to October 28, 2016. Compudon National Award Ceremony Report

Date: May 21, 2016.

MAMSians shone bright at the Nationals Award Ceremony held on May 21,2016 at India Habitat Centre for MICROSOFT OFFICE INDIA CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON 6 – Microsoft Compudon as it was another meritorious performance by our school’s students in this prestigious competition. With hundreds of students which qualified for the national championship coming from 14 states, the MAMSians were able to set a mark once again emerging out of the crowd and bagging 4 of the 18 winning spots. Anmol Garg, Bipin Kalra, Mridul Manocha were able to bag the silver medals in their respective streams while Kartik Behl was able to win the bronze medal. All three silver medallists were awarded with an Acer Tablet whereas Kartik got a Mobile phone.

Compudon Season VI

Date: May 20, 2016.

Fifty Students from our school appeared for Level 1 Microsoft Compudon Online Exam held from April 13, 2016 to April  17, 2016 for different versions of different applications of Microsoft Office. Level 1 Result declared on 29 April, 2016, Eleven proud Mamsians qualified the first level and will compete for India Finals on May 20, 2016.

ART COMPETITION AT DPL

Date: April 30, 2016.

Vanshikha Rajput of class VIII C secured first position and received a certificate and a cash prize of 750 rupees.

Hindi Hasya Vyangya Competition

Date: April 29, 2016.

Yash Sharma of class X-A, got 3 rd  Prize (Trophy and Certificate) in Hasya Vyangya (Stand Up Comedy) Competition, held at St. Margaret Senior Secondary School, Prashant Vihar on 29 th  April 2016.

International Informatics Olympiad 2015

Date: April 5, 2016.

A special assembly was organised to felicitate the winners of International Informatics Olympiad 2015 on April 5,2016.
Anirudh Gupta of class XII B bagged the first position in International Informatics Olympiad -2015in level 2 organised by Silverzone foundation and has won Rs. 51000 as cash prize for notching the top position. Anirudh has been studying in the school since LKG and has been brilliant in academics.
Thirty one students from MAMS qualified for the second level and secured prestigious ranks at International and state levels. The line of victors comprises- PRATEEK BANSAL who secured 7th position followed by SAGAR BANSAL who reserved 9th rank and ANKIT AGGARWAL and BIPIN KALRA placed themselves at position 13. ROHAN SETHI grabbed the 15th position and made the school proud.
