On 19th March,2015 IMA jointly with the Ministry of Health & Family welfare Govt. of India & Heart Care Foundation of India organized a workshop regarding Food & Hand Hygiene, Summer diseases and its prevention. Ms. Alka Goyal (PRT) , Ms Neelam Pahuja( TGT, HINDI) attended the workshop. The objective of the workshop was to train the teachers so that they could create awareness amongst their students & staff on disease prevention. Dr. K.K. Aggarwal(Padma Shri Awardee) was one of the resource persons amongst the other eminent doctors. It was very effective & enlightening session and provided an insight into ways and measures to be adopted for the prevention of diseases prevalent in the upcoming summer season.

The workshop to enrich the app development process was organized by CommonWealth Educational Media Centre for Asia (CEMCA), New Delhi. The workshop provided the broad prospective on developing android apps using app inventor for android phones. The workshop included various activities and applications development.
The session unfolded various segments like developing android apps, packaging and distribution of apps, uploading apps on Google Play, Creating and using QR Codes etc. The workshop was very informative and provided a good learning experience for computer science teachers.
The session was highly interactive and informative.

SAFER INTERNET DAY

Date: February 10, 2015


MAHARAJA AGRASEN MODEL SCHOOL observed "SAFER INTERNET DAY" on February 10, 2015. This day was celebrated in the school with an aim to promote safer and more responsible use of online technology and mobile phones, especially among children and young people across the world. The strapline of the event was "LET US CREATE A BETTER INTERNET TOGETHER."

The school carried out a plethora of activities to mark this special day wherein the Mamsians participated enthusiastically. G.K questions were asked to test the students' knowledge about safety tips that need to be followed in everyday life while using internet. The Principal Ms. Pratibha Kohli created awareness among the students by stressing on the need to be cautious while using internet. The students of various classes showed posters and raised slogans to create awareness. A speech was delivered in the assembly by Arya Madan of VIII-C. The line of the assembly was further picked by Ms Divya, the school counselor when she gave certain safety tips to the students while browsing the internet. Mamsians marked the day by wearing yellow ribbons and vowed to use internet wisely and judiciously.

The activities conceived and planned were executed in a befitting manner.

Eleven students from Class XI and their parents attended the workshop. The counsellors advised the students some ways to overcome the exam fear. They counselled the parents not to pressurise their children to opt a particular stream.
Then there was a one to one counseling session in which students could interact with the subject experts and could get help in shaping their future.The seminar was well received by the students as well as parents.

GANIT GUROOZ organized maths workshop for senior school teachers at SANSKRITI SCHOOL,Chanakya Puri ,New Delhi.The workshop was conducted by Dr.Atul Nischal. The workshop mainly dealt with improving assessment of mathematics in schools.Dr. Atul Nischal mainly discussed the drawbacks in our existing assessment strategies and made senior school teachers aware of the latest research in assessment of mathematics .He emphasized that question paper must include questions based on stategical thinking which will help the child to switch over from cramming and procedural mathematics. During the workshop teachers were divided into groups and were asked to prepare one question testing the DoK(depthof knowledge level 3). The time limit given to the groups were 30 minutes each.He also encouraged teachers to conduct NATIONAL TEST OF MATHS KNOWLEDGE in their schools. The session was very enlightening and thought provoking. It made the participants re assess the assessment techniques in use.

NIPCCD (National Institute of Public Cooeration & Child Development) conducted a 2 days teacher training programme on POCSO Act, 2012. The programme began with an overview of Child Rights which every child should be aware of. Salient features & Rules of POCSO Act, 2012 were discussed in detail. All the dimensions of sexual offences, assault & harassment were addressed with essential information regarding the punishments attached to these. The resource person well addressed the need & importance of communicating to children attending educational institutions about sexuality. Ms. Shashank Shekhar threw light up on the crucial role of school authorities and staff in implementation of POCSO Act and Rules, 2012. The programme concluded with the vision of initiating action against abusers in case of abuse and taking preventive measures in Educational Institutions.

The National Progressive School�s Conference in collaboration with KIIT World School conducted a workshop on Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO Act, 2012). The workshop aimed at sensitizing teachers to be vigilant to identify the signs and symptoms of sexual abuse in children. The Resource Person threw light up on the procedures to be followed if a child approaches a teacher for a disclosure on sexual abuse. It then becomes the moral obligation of the school to report the matter under POCSO Act, 2012. The Workshop also addressed the compulsion for all the schools to form a POCSO Committee which should comprise of a teacher representative, parent representative, member from NGO, school counsellor and a student representative. The POCSO Committee holds a responsibility to guide students as to whom to report, when to report & how to report in case of sexual abuse. Under no circumstance the confidentiality of the child should break and schools have to play an indispensable role to sensitize the children to report the matter to the person to whom they trust.

On August 20th, 2014, there was a session on career counseling which was held at "National Science Center", Pragati Maidan , Delhi from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. . Respected resource person was very helpful in guiding the students for their career ahead but before they gave more emphasis on how to know your interests and how to pursue them ahead as a profession or just a hobby. The ambience was excellent and the decorum was being maintained by many other schools too, as there were 8 to 10 schools which participated in this session. Slides, presentations, dramas were shown regarding various situations and dilemmas while choosing for careers or streams ahead. Very well interaction was being made by them with the students by making them share their experiences, problems and also making them enact a play on the same. The solutions were given to the students also.

The facilitators of this workshop were Mr. Sanjeev Narang � a lawyer and corporate trainer, Ms. Sarkar from NDEP and Ms. Neelam Katara a social activist and an educator from Kendriya Vidyalaya . Around 80 teachers of different schools across North India participated in it. The trainers focused on Leadership styles, Building teams, Managing Change, Creating & communicating a Vision and Building a Positive School Culture. It was a great learning experience to work with different teachers from different schools and participate in fun filled activities. The workshop really helped to understand leadership qualities, styles and shaping positive school culture. It was an enriching learning experience. The workshop culminated with an award ceremony and group photographs.

Institute of Counselor Training and Research and Consultancy (ICTRC) organized the National Summit of School Principals for maximizing educational leadership competencies on July 24, 2014 at IIC, New Delhi. The objective of the summit was to look into the contemporary issues faced by schools and to equip them with knowledge, skill and attitudes which are simple to adopt in everyday practice and easily transferable to teachers, students and parents. As educators same methodologies of teaching create boredom .Today the learners are growing up in an entirely different environment and the Summit aimed at equipping the facilitators with changed outlook and vision. A demotivated learner may disengage other learners in a classroom which already has a fair share of LD, ADHD,Slow Learners,Autistic participation. The inclusive classrooms are the future of the education system .The parents also need to be made aware of it as well. Teachers need to tread the thin line between "empathy, and sympathy" to motivate the students carefully. Creating curiosity, exploring realistic goals and discovering their hidden potentials shall surely lead to an enlightened learner. Encouraging perseverance, rewarding talent and imposing goals would lead to real learning.

The National Consultation on School Based Counseling and Special Needs Services began with a special focus on Inclusion to be implemented in all schools and throughout our education system. Principals from varied schools presented their views on Inclusive system and how they are trying to implement the system at their institution. The discussion focussed on the need to make schools such centres that prepare children for life and ensure that all children, especially the differently abled, get the maximum benefit and feel at par with the other students. In the end, the importance of team work was highlighted to make inclusive set-up a successful one. The school, parents and external professionals must work collaboratively to support the special needs of the child.

A 3 days Teacher�s Orientation Workshop on Awakened Citizen Programme- a comprehensive three year graded value education programme was attended by Ms. Vasudha & Ms. Tanuja at R.K. Mission from 21-7-2014 to 23-7-2014. On Day 1, the session began with a keynote address by Swami Shantatmananda Ji sharing the vision of the programme. The programme has been developed by Illumine Knowledge Resources Pvt. Ltd & R.K. Mission with an aim to equip school students with important life skills and empower them to develop as enlightened citizens. Ch Mr. V.Srinivas (Founder & CEO at Illumine Knowledge Resources Pvt. Ltd) threw light up on the universal and unique human possibilities with infinite source of strength & power and how we have to awaken these possibilities in our students. On Day 2 & Day 3, teachers were given hands on training to conduct these sessions using the facilitator guide & power-point presentation with Class 7. Overall, the Programme has been designed well to reach out the young tender minds of students in an effective way. The 3 days of training helped us in exploration of our own self as it is the essence of the programme to awaken ourselves about the unique human possibilities before we awaken the students.

WORKSHOP AT BCL

Ms. Ashima T Kathuria (TGT English) and Ms. Neetu Sama (TGT English) attended a workshop conducted by British Council Library on July 22, 2014 at British Council Library, K.G Marg, Delhi. The workshop talked of the various programs run by Saint Michael College, London. The resource person Stuart Higgins, the Principal, Saint Michael College gave an insight about the success rate of various programs like Personality Development , Leadership , Critical Thinking etc. thereafter they introduced the new programs initiated by British Council Library.

Workshop on common errors made in day-to-day

The English Department conducted a workshop on common errors made in day-to-day conversation. The session was organized for the entire staff on Saturday, the 26th day of July, 2014. The informative session elucidated upon the common errors or fallices in English language. Grammar concepts and their correct usage was introduced through interesting methods/ modes. The emphasis across the workshop was on looking at both meaning and its correct usage in spoken English. The workshop proved to be a beneficial one as the grammar intricacies were dealt with at length.

Assessment Training Programe

The CAER (Centre for Assessment, Evaluation and Research) has been conducting training programs in the areas of assessment and assessment literacy for teachers and principals to support the school-based assessment and Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) regarding reforms in assessment that have been introduced by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

The training session (Module 1) was conducted on June 4, 5, 6 at 6th Floor, Conference Room, 17, Rouse Avenue, New Delhi.

The training session focused on constructing quality objective multiple choice items to assess the scholastic skills of the student. Modern assessment theory and its practice were discussed in detail. Assessment involves judgment of student based on various formal and informal assessments about student performance. While framing multiple choice items, the teacher should keep in mind the Bloom�s taxonomy of learning objectives. The first four levels of cognitive level of Bloom�s taxonomy (remembering, understanding, applying and analyzing) could very well be used by a teacher while preparing multiple choice items.

As a next step to building assessment communities, the CBSE with the CAER invite applications for the ATP 200 program to train 200 qualified teachers across the country in the four modules of the ATP program. The four modules are:

Module 1: Constructing quality objective multiple choice items to assess the scholastic skills of the curriculum

Module 2: Constructing quality performance-based assessment items to assess scholastic and co-scholastic skills

Module 3: Formative Assessment and the use of Performance Standards for assessing scholastic and co-scholastic skills

Module 4: Classroom-based Research

The purpose of the ATP 200 is to enable development of assessment capabilities and resources for 200 selected teachers, coordinators, principals and key functionaries of CBSE sch ools who will become the esteemed ATP 200 trainers.

He advised that every teacher should prepare the self - made assignments and share them with students to sharpen their mathematical aptitude. He discussed the proof of Pythagoras theorem by different methods and applied various mathematical concepts to prove it.   • Session one was conducted by Ms Meena Goyal wherein she elaborated the changes in the pattern of Question Paper and the weightage of different type of questions. She also clarified the syllabus related doubts of the teachers.
  • Session two was conducted by Dr. P.C. Jain, Principal, Sri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University. He shared his pearls of wisdom and stressed that one must have the "drive to lead" if one wants to excel in life.
  • Session three was conducted by Mr Sandeep Sethi. He discussed the new guidelines for Project Work. He also discussed how the syllabus can be covered in a more effective and inspiring manner through innovative teaching methodologies.
  • Session four was conducted by Ms Bhuvana Ravi. She demonstrated the actual trading procedure followed on a Stock Exchange.

Special highlight of the day was Mr Grahame Morton, High Commissioner of New Zealand, who applauded the teachers for their dedication towards the profession. Overall the workshop was an enriching and Informative experience.

The students of Class XI had an interactive and informative session with the Pioneer Mr. Jitin Chawla from Centre for Career Development. He clarified career related myths and also appraised the students with innovative career options which the youth of the country can explore and experiment. Another session was conducted by Mr. Ish Gera, the renowned career counsellor and founder Director of Teachwell Institute. He guided the students about various career options. Ms Meenakshi from Trendz Academy informed the students about careers in designing. The session was fruitful which guided the students to think out of the box and understand how to choose career option as per one's capacity and aptitude.

Workshop for Road Safety and Traffic Training was taken up by Sub-Inspector Mr. Satbir Singh, ASI Mr. Vijender Singh and Head Constable Mr. Yashwant.

• the license requirement for driving particular type of vehicles
• the precautions one must observe for safety

Cup of Technology is emerging as an 'Organization of Excellence' offering world class Professional Educational Webinars, Seminars, Boot Camps and Internship Programs. It is preparing the students to meet Global Challenges of the future with courage and conviction. Cup of Technology held it`s Cyber Crime Awareness Program in our school on 15th April, 2014. Mr Kshitij Adhlakha, a Cyber Lawyer by profession amazed the students by the surprising facts he put in front of the students. He started the presentation giving the recent figures about some of the cyber-crimes. Mr Kshitij then shocked everyone when he told the stories of some people who became victims of cyber-crimes like online frauds, cyber bullying etc. He told the preventive measures so that one can protect himself or herself from such a situation. The seminar ended on a very lively note when Mr Kshitij Adhlakha gave the students few tips to fasten up their work in daily life.
