To mark the World Ozone Day on September 16, 2020, Maharaja Agrasen Model School, CD Block, Pitampura, conducted online activities for the students on the theme “Ozone for life: 35 years of ozone layer protection” proclaimed by the United Nation Environmental Programme. An array of activities was conducted virtually for the students to create awareness about the importance of Ozone layer in protecting the Earth from harmful ultraviolet radiations. A video depicting the depletion of ozone layer was shown in all the sections of classes I to III. Students participated in the group discussions enthusiastically and understood the importance of ozone layer. They pledged to adopt the recommendations offered by the UNEP as a step towards conserving the ozone layer. A quiz was conducted with the students of classes IV to VIII to generate awareness and to sensitize students on topics related to climate change and ozone depletion. This was followed by an online discussion of the same. A detailed seminar was organised for students of classes IX to XII wherein the teachers elucidated upon the composition, function, formation, causes of depletion and its impact on life forms on earth along with the protective measures being taken around the world to protect it for the generations to come.The students actively engaged in the seminar by interacting and clearing their doubts. Active and energetic participation of school students and teachers made the day a success.
A Hawan ceremony was organised at MAHARAJA AGRASEN MODEL School, to seek the divine blessings of 'Ma Saraswati' – the Goddess of knowledge and wisdom on February 10, 2020. The Havan was performed religiously with divine fervour and spirituality. All the teachers and students of classes X and XII participated with utmost respect and devotion. The ritual was graced by esteemed Chairman Shri. S.C.Tayal , the Manager Shri S.C.Mangla, Principal Dr. Pratibha Kohli, Vice Principal Ms. Simmi Bhatia. The pious ceremony infused the environment with positivity as the students along with the teachers enchanted prayers and religious hymns, creating the ambience of spirituality in the school. The ceremony ended with a prayer to the almighty seeking his blessings for all. Speaking on the occasion, the chairman Shri S.C.Tayal encouraged the children to keep faith in them and work hard. The manager Shri S.C.Mangla, extended his best wishes to the students appearing for the board exams and motivated them to work hard and believe in themselves to achieve desired results. The principal bestowed her best wishes to the students and motivated them to work with dedication and reach the pinnacle of success.
The Safer Internet Day was celebrated on Feb 4, 2019 at Maharaja Agrasen Model School with the full zeal and enthusiasm. The special assembly for this special day was organized by the computer department of the school. Students of Class VIII took the Pledge on "How to use Internet safely". Students of class 8 also presented a talk show with poster presentation on the topic "SMART rules of using Internet" which was appreciated by the audience. This was followed by the song "Be Safe On Internet" sung by the students of Class VIII. International Informatics Olympiad 2019 Level 1 qualifiers were also awarded during the assembly with Medals and Certificates. Principal Ma'am graced the occasion and motivated the students. The assembly was ended with a note on Cyber Safety by the school principal Madam Pratibha Kohli, guiding the students regarding safe use of Internet.
Mental Health Awareness Programme for Teachers Maharaja Agrasen Model School, CD Block, Pitampura, Delhi organised a session on "Mental Health Awareness Programme for Teachers" on December 23, 2019 wherein Ms Jasjeet Kaur, the counselling psychologist enunciated on the mental well being of the adolescents. In her dialogue with the participants she urged them to make an effort to have a genuine conversation with a student who may seem to be behaving differently. She also emphasised to lend an emotional support to a student in need and also support and convince his/her parents in case he/ she needs a professional help. The workshop provided by the LIVE LOVE LAUGH FOUNDATION focused on educating teachers to identify the signs and symptoms of stress, anxiety and depression among students, while also aiming to reduce the stigma that surrounds mental illness.
Ms. Chandni Agarwal, PGT Computer Science attended two days event organised by Microsoft India with team of students at West-In , Gurugram on November 21 and 22 , 2019. The event was organised to empower students with future-ready skills, Microsoft rolled out its K12 Education Transformation Framework. Teachers and students from schools across India, also demonstrated the innovative ways in which they are digitally transforming education by bringing in AI, gamification, personalization and simplifying STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) learning for students.
